References to "we," "us," or "this website" mean the controller above.

What data we collect

We only collect personal data that you give us directly, or that your browser stores locally on your own device at your request. The only analytics tool we use (Plausible, only after you accept the Analytics cookie category) is cookieless and does not identify you individually or build a profile of you — we do not run any advertising or personal-tracking script, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

• Contact form (/contact.html): your name (optional), your email address, and your message. This is sent by email to us and used only to reply to you.
• Display theme preference: if you choose a light or dark theme and accept the "Preferences" cookie category, that single choice is stored only in your own browser (never sent to us or anyone else) so the site remembers it next time.
• Cookie consent record: your choices about optional cookies are stored only in your own browser, so we don't have to ask again every visit. See the Cookie Policy for exactly what this contains.

The "Stay near" email field shown on some pages sends the email address you enter directly to Sara by email, so she knows you'd like to receive occasional updates. There is no automated mailing-list or newsletter-sending service behind it yet — no third party receives or processes this data, and no automatic emails are sent to you as a result of submitting it. If a dedicated newsletter provider is used in future, this policy and the Cookie Policy will be updated first to name it.

Why we collect it

We process the data above only to respond to messages sent through the contact form, and to remember the display and cookie choices you've made on your own device. We do not use your data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not share it with anyone except where strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for (for example, our email provider, used only to deliver your contact-form message to us).

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses a small first-party cookie-consent system with five categories: Essential, Analytics, External media, Marketing, and Preferences. Essential storage is always on; everything else is off until you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time using "Cookie Settings" in the footer. Third parties and embedded content

We link to, or occasionally embed content from, a small number of outside services:

• Plausible Analytics: if you accept the "Analytics" cookie category, this site loads a script from Plausible to show us anonymised visit counts and popular pages. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across other websites. Nothing loads until you accept this category — see the Cookie Policy for detail.
• YouTube (Google LLC): some pages can embed YouTube videos. These are never loaded until you accept the "External media" cookie category or explicitly choose to load a specific video — see the Cookie Policy for how that works. Once loaded, YouTube may set its own cookies and receive information about your visit under its own privacy policy.
• Google Fonts: this site's typefaces are currently served from Google's font service. This does not set a cookie, but it does mean your browser contacts Google's servers on every page view (which can expose your IP address to Google), before any cookie choice is possible, because the fonts must load for the page to render at all. We are reviewing self-hosting these fonts to remove this. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
• Buy Me a Coffee: a floating donation button appears on every page, loading a script from Buy Me a Coffee regardless of your cookie choices. We have not independently confirmed whether this script itself sets any cookie — check Buy Me a Coffee's own privacy policy for specifics. Clicking it takes you to their site, governed by their own policy from that point.
• Amazon: book links may point to Amazon. Nothing is sent to Amazon unless you click through; once there, Amazon's own privacy policy and cookies apply.
• Resource purchase links on Rethinking Society episode pages, and the GoFundMe link on the Support page, may point to an outside checkout/payment page. Nothing is sent there unless you click through, and that provider's own privacy policy applies once you do.

We don't control what these third parties do with data once you're on their site — please check their own privacy policies.

How long we keep data

Contact-form messages are kept only for as long as needed to respond to you, or as required by law — we do not currently have a fixed automatic deletion schedule for these emails. Your theme preference and cookie-consent record stay in your own browser until you clear it, change your choice, or clear your browser's site data — we never see or store these ourselves.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, data protection law gives you the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
• ask us to correct inaccurate data;
• ask us to delete data we no longer need;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• withdraw consent at any time (for cookies, via "Cookie Settings" in the footer) without affecting anything already done based on your earlier consent;
• lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change what data we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and, where the change affects cookie categories, prompt you again for consent. Check the "Last updated" date above for the most recent revision.
