Framework 08 · A return
Not out of life. Into it. A return rather than an escape.
Much of what is called awakening teaches us to rise out of the human — to transcend, to detach, to view from above. There is something in this. There is also a great forgetting; a leaving behind of the very body that was supposed to be saved.
Awakening into humanity is the opposite direction. It is the slow consent to come back down — into the body, into the relationships, into the messiness of being a person inside the world. To be here on purpose, not by accident.
It does not feel like enlightenment. It feels like grief, and tenderness, and the strange relief of being finally allowed to be here.
You do not awaken out of being human. You awaken into it.
